With 10 games left in the PSL, things get a little bit more heated and tricky as some clubs have to play Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup preliminary games.
That’s extra matches for teams like Cape Town City who are through to the next round of the Nedbank Cup and still mathematically in with a shot at the league title.
It’s also an extra focus for a team like Wits who are still in danger at the wrong end of the table.
It explains why Wits fielded a second-string team in the first-round Champions League match at the weekend against Pamplemousses of Mauritius, which they won 2-0.
But it’s really the travelling at this stage that’s going to be problematic.
And it will be a test more so for Benni McCarthy, who will be going through this for the first time as a coach to manage their teams well enough so that no one is overplayed.
