Did you know that Jabu “Shuffle” Mahlangu (Pule) didn’t have a jersey when he made his debut for Kaizer Chiefs?
Shuffle was with the Amakhosi reserves when he got the call to join up with the first team for the second match of the Vodacom Challenge back in 1999.
He was handed the famous No.11 jersey worn by the great Teenage Dladla by the kitman, but it was printed with the name Moosa because it was meant to be worn by Zane Moosa.
But Moosa was on his way out of the club and the
kitman put a white plaster over Moosa’s name and wrote Jabu with a black marker.
The rest as they say is history.
