Between them, Kraaifontein and Hands & Heart contest the Fly Cup whenever they play each other.
Neighbours in the Kraaifontein area, there is no love lost when these two teams clash and this trophy was introduced earlier this year in honour of Kraaie legend Fly Engelke.
But as it stands in the Super League B, it is both these teams that look set to drop like flies from SLB.
It’s been a tough season for Kraaifontein to date, having won only once for their seven log points – the least in the tournament.
Second from bottom are their neighbours – Hands & Heart with two wins and 11 log points.
But the Kraaie have real concerns and those were highlighted this past weekend when they were beaten by Rangers 45-31.
Having already conceded 254 points in eight games, it is their defence that will worry them as Rangers ran in six tries – two of those belonging to No.8 Sauliegh Arendse.
The win was Rangers’ third of the season as they climb the ladder towards safety.
As for Hands & Heart, they had a bye last weekend and will also head to Surrey Estate for their return game.
While Rangers will be out to make it two from two against Kraaifontein opposition, it will be Heart that will be out to prove that they’ve still got the heart to compete and stay in this division.
The game of the weekend arguably took place in Paarl where the hosts faced Franschhoek in a breathtaking derby.
With neither team willing to give an inch on the field and on the scoreboard, it was the visitors that entered the break with a slender 16-13 lead.
But egged on by their supporters, Paarl produced the goods in the second half to narrowly win this top-of-the-table encounter 25-23.
The win sees Paarl opening up a gap at the top of the league – now four points ahead of second-placed Franschhoek.
Hot on their heels are Helderberg and Kuilsrivier.
Two teams that have played some Super League A rugby in the past, it was Helderberg that got the better of Collegians 37-24 thanks to a hattrick of tries by Shane Goliath – great form ahead of their Vineyards test.
Kuilsrivier, meanwhile, had to fight hard for an away win against Vineyards and will look to take some momentum from that match into their home game against Collegians,
Vineyards 12 Kuilsrivier 17, Rangers 45 Kraaifontein 29, Primrose 51 Pniel Villagers 12, Paarl 25 Franschhoek 23, Helderberg 37 Collegians 24.
All first team games kick off at 4pm
Rangers v Hands and Heart, Pniel Villagers v Young Peoples, Kuilsrivier v Collegians, Helderberg v Vineyards, Franschhoek v Kraaifontein, Bellville v Paarl, All Saints v Primrose.
