Bobby Nitro has heard people actually debating whether wearing a seatbelt is the right thing to do. Now, although free speech is a right, mostly, and we like to discuss things, surely the answer to this is straightforward.
Some people bring examples of when not having a seatbelt on somehow meant the person in the accident was not killed, then use that as evidence to justify not buckling up.
That’s not how statistics work, the vast majority of cases show that a seatbelt saves lives. It’s an emotional argument, and that’s all. Logic says buckling up saves lives.
The best place to be in an accident is in the vehicle, and a seatbelt is the best way to make sure you are not flung out of the car.
So who’s responsible? When everyone is responsible then it often turns out that no one is, but if we make the driver responsible for getting everyone to put their belt on, then there is a better chance of it happening.
The driver must also make sure that all children buckle up, no compromises here. Let them know that they cannot argue or bargain here, not even once. You know what kids are like when you back down, next time they will vat ’n kans.
Compromise on something else, like ice cream, but never on the lives of your children.
