Staying safe is the call going out to the entire world at one of the most challenging junctures in the history of the human race.
We hopefully now fully appreciate the threat to human life sweeping the world. No one can say anymore, “it will never happen to me”, or “I’ll just keep on doing what I’m doing and I’ll leave the actions that create change to the others”.
In a way, maybe we need that realisation. For too long, we defer responsibility, making it the job of other people to create safety. Look at road safety. We drive around like we are invincible, yet people die daily (at a rate far more than the virus for the time being, by the way).
To beat the virus, we are being asked to isolate. On the road, we have always been asked to behave in such a way that respects the lives of others, so as not to put other people at risk. At no other time has this been more important. The change begins with you.
