With a car scene that goes from strength to strength as the years progress, the fourth annual Killarney Motor Show powered by KFM 94.5 is one of those events that has put us on the map.
The best measure is the sheer volume of exhibits to be seen, so many that as a visitor you don’t quite know if you’ve seen it all, and end up wandering the circuit again and again to pick up those strays.
This year, like the others, thousands of karkoppe poured through the raceway’s gates last Sunday to feast their eyes on row upon row of cars, new launches included, motorcycles, classics, customs and modified vehicles, as well as hundreds of street and kwaai gedropte stance cars.
But this show is certainly not limited to static offerings, with just about every section of the tar not used for display, buzzing with excitement.
The Cape Helldrivers dominated the Tar Oval with their legendary showmanship, and the Rallycross E36 cup drivers turned the Extreme Arena into a mayhem of sideways action.

This year, visitors got to line up for an adrenalin-fuelled passenger ride with these inspired drivers, who recently upped their game as a support act in the World Rallycross championships at the same venue.
Those interested in getting behind the wheel of new vehicles could do so at the test circuit, to get the feel of latest launches from various production houses.
On the back straight, trial riders challenged belief over and through man-made obstacles designed to test agility and balance and, of course, to wow the onlookers.
Lekker chow and ice-cold drinks kept the visitors well fuelled throughout their wanderings.

This aiming to be a one-stop show for everything motor-related, dozens of stalls owners brought their goodies and merchandise.
This being a family show of note, after all, the pits paddock hosted a fun fair and rides for kids, while rides in powerful four-stroke karts were on offer at the Karting circuit.

Then there were the guest appearances, notably multiple former Supadrift Series champion Jason Webb and current title-holder Christopher Long thrilling spectators with a classic display of synchronised drifting.
Living up to its billing as the biggest motor show in the Western Cape, the Killarney event aims to raise the bar year on year and, despite that change in date because of weather, it was very well attended and, if you missed out, make sure you don’t next year.
