Lions coach Johan Ackermann rued his mistake of playing a second-string team in their final pool match of their Super Rugby campaign against the Jaguares.
That would have seen them have a home final in the tournament and probably would have given them a better chance of beating the Hurricanes.
As it turned out, the Canes donnered them in Wellington to capture their first ever Super Rugby title.
If the Lions had won the tournament, though, Ackermann’s decision to rest his stars would probably have been lauded.
