Often when I scroll down my Facebook page, I come across memes and se goedjies from creatives that are hilarious.
But it’s the kind of pages where you don’t know who the creative behind it is, it never has any videos or even a picture of the person.
One such a page is the “Issie jy nie, is jou body”, which always has lekker dingetjies and an insane following of close to 300 000 followers.
I always wondered who the genius behind the page is and finally got hold of him.
His name is Shalvin Joubert from Kuils River and he attended Kuils River technical high school.
“A lot of people know me as Shalas or Mr Issie jy, nie is jou body,” he says.
“I'm 32 years old maar baie mense question my age because I look like a stoute boy.
“Ek’s ‘n mens se mens omdat ek hou van mense and I’m down to earth.
“My ouma het my geleer moet nooit op wêreld dinge roem nie and that’s so true.”
Shalvin says he always wanted to be an actor and now he is simply making the best of his talents.
He started the “Issie jy nie, is jou body” page in June last year.
Before that he had another page but he was hacked and nearly lost all hope.
“Ek het gevoel om alles te los but so many followers told me not to give up and I think that helped me to start this page.
“So I went and searched on Facebook if anyone else has that name and I found nothing, toe begin ek met ‘Issie jy nie, is jou body’.”
He adds: “Somtyds sien guys ‘n girl, dan sê hulle jirre my broe, daai kind se body, toe kom dit by my, issie jy nie is jou body.”
He says he never dreamed so many people would follow him on Facebook.
“When I started the second page, I never thought I would get so many followers, omdat ek post ‘n video maar nou en dan, but people just started to love the energy.
“Ek dink as jy ‘n page begin then you must be real because you can't be two different people, especially when you meet followers in a mall or on the road, then you must still have that Awe vibe and the energy omdat mense ken jou so.”
But with the fame also comes the misfortune and Shalvin says he has his fair share of trolls.
“If you start a page now or if you are planning to start one wil ek jou vra, is jy sterk genoeg? Omdat met ‘n page kom haters en mense wat jaloers is, so ask yourself if you are ready then go for it.”
He says like the whole world, he is looking forward to a much better new year, and admits 2020 was a year of tough life lessons.
“2020 was so deurmekaar ‘n mens trap nie eers meer in dorings nie.
“So many people have told me they would be there for me just to disappoint me, ma ek het op die Here vertrou en Hy het nog altyd kwaai deurgekom vir my.
“If it wasn’t for my brother Bryan Joubert, aka Steffie, who always uplifted me dan sal ek’it nie gemaak het nie. En Genevieve van Rensburg, Whilma Van Schalkwyk, Chandre Heubner, Rishando Softy Davids en R. Jay.
“Also a special thanks to my mother Mavis Joubert, who I love dearly, my daughter Shamicah Joubert and my girlfriend Samantha September. Julle is my alles.
“So ek het baie geleer die jaar en ek sien uit na 2021. Covid gaan nog saam ons wees vir ‘n lang tyd maar soos my ouma se, die show moet aangaan.
“I'm looking forward to the future, I want to MC and be part of so many events so I think the future looks good for ‘Issie jy nie, is jou body’.”
The future does indeed look bright for this talented young man, who adds: “Have a blessed Christmas and don’t forget the reason for this season: wear your mask and always keep the social distance, and wash your hands at all times.”
You can follow “Issie jy nie is jou body” on Facebook for a daily dose of laughter.
Stay safe and a merry Christmas to all.
