The big days may have officially ended, but there are still lots of sunny days for us to enjoy to give us that holiday feeling.
Thankfully the first payday for the year has finally arrived so now we can eat lekker again.
Whether it’s a braai, a fancy fruit salad or a slice of your favourite cake, you’re allowed to treat yourself, want jinne Janu-worry was baie lank, and just didn’t want to end!
I love summer fruit and right now every store or stalltjie you go to will have a wide selection of watermelon, grapes, peaches, plums, mango, nectarines... you name it!
Not only do these fruits taste yummy, but they’re also great for adding colour and flavour to almost any dish.
A few chunks of mango, peaches or plums with your favourite yoghurt or ice cream make an easy fruit salad.
Or why not make your glass of water interesting by putting a few pieces of fruit into a large jug and allowing it to chill.
Add a fruity twist to your braai by including some of these fruit to the cool recipes we have today.
There are so many things you can do with summer fruit, but of course, the best way to enjoy it is in raw form.
The kids love it too, add diced fruit in their lunch box for a lekker breaktime snack.
I don’t have a sweet tooth, but I do enjoy a slice of cheesecake from time to time and I found a really delicious looking recipe that I can’t wait to try myself.
The only problem I have with summer fruit in my home is that it never lasts!
In fact, I’m craving a sweet chilled mango right now, so excuse me while I head to the nearest stalltjie.
