The heat we have this summer is draining all my krag.
By midday I feel sluggish and ready to give up, ready to take that dive into the Sea Point pool.
So what would I do doe that needed little spark?
I got an energy drink. And, yes, I know you do too.
I used to live off those drinks, but I’ve had to make some healthy life choices, and that was one of the first things to go.
There are some great healthier alternatives you can use for increased energy, and what’s nice about it is all the ingredients are already in your fridge.
Simple things like peanut butter and bananas on an omelette or toast will give you a good boost in the morning.
Some experts say you should keep your liggies burning the whole day by eating five small meals rich in protein, and try not to chow anything after 7pm to give your body a chance to digest and metabolise the kos before you hit the bed.
Other good alternatives are spinach and chickpeas, as well as chicken and sardines.
They are all available at supermarkets and not too hard on your pocket.
Simply use that money for the energy drink to buy a blikkie sardines and chickpeas.
For those who love smoothies, we have added a great selection of simple, energy boosting drinks to give you the strength to deal with your day.
But remember as with any food, you can’t overdo these energy boosters, because whatever fuel your body does not use is converted into fat.
