There are five seasons in the year - Summer, Spring, Autumn, Winter and, of course, Avo season.
While the latter has nothing to do with the weather, it’s certainly the one season mense look forward to even if it’s just for cheaper avos.
Avo season is officially here and for the next few months, we should be seeing the price of avos go from R20 each to R20 a sakkie. Dankie tog!
South Africa is one of the largest producers of avocados in the world and the South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA) has promised a bumper season of Winter’s favourite fruit.
Whether you prefer your avo spread on a slice of toast, chunky guacamole or blended in a smoothie or even an avo martini (oh yes, you can!) there’s no reason why you can’t add an avo to your breakfast, lunch or supper.
Before you slam the idea of avo in your dop, you must try an avo margarita (recipe below), it’s the only way you’ll get me to drink an avo.
It’s perfect for a Mexican-themed party and I promise your mense will love it.
Of course, you can make the virgin option as well.
Since the Mexicans are the largest consumers of avos in the world, I’ve selected a few Mexican themed recipes for you to try.
