Q
Dear Pearl, please help me save my relationship.
You all might think that I am tartie, but I just can’t take it anymore; my partner snores like crazy!
When he is awake, he is the best guy and I love him to bits.
But as soon as the lights go out the geraas starts.
His snoring is unbelievable, I swear sometimes the walls rattle.
I’m so tired some days, that I have started sleeping in a seperate room.
This is causing problems in our relationship – not just emotionally, but also physically.
Love is blind, but it’s not deaf!
Because I don’t get sleep and I’m so moeg, I’m just not lus for him.
What can we do? Please help!
From Wendy.

Shame, girl, it sounds like you are really desperate to get some shut-eye. A girl mos needs her beauty sleep!
Yoh, Auntie weet hoe bedonnerd I can be when I did not have enough sleep for a night or two, and you have to struggle with it every day. You must be going mad!
It doesn’t take science to tell you that snoring can wreak havoc on a relationship, but studies have shown that almost half of people who have snork probleme also have trouble in their relationships.
Sleeping in different rooms seems like a simple solution, but you mos don’t want to be a couple that can’t cuddle, especially now that winter is here.
So, what can you do?
First try changing his sleep position.
Your man is probably snoring when he is sleeping on his back.
An easy solution is to have him wear a t-shirt with a pocket in the front, but he must put it on backwards and have a tennis ball in the pocket.
This will make lying on his back uncomfortable, so he’ll tiep on his side and probably not snore.
Look at making some lifestyle changes.
Auntie doesn’t know what your man looks like, but overweight people are more prone to snoring.
So weight loss can definitely help him sleep better.
Also avoid having a dop within three hours of bedtime.
Alcohol (or medicine like a sleeping pill) can relax the muscles in the mouth and throat and obstruct the airway, contributing to the snorkery.
While dop is out, you still have to drink plenty of water.
If your partner is a smoker, he has to quit. Finish and klaar.
Remember to keep a clean house. Maybe your partner has allergies, so keep your bedroom, pillows and bedding dust-free and wash them regularly.
So, to summarise: let him sleep on his side, avoid alcohol before bedtime, get fit and trim and take a hot shower before bedtime.
