What was so shocking about Harry and Meghan's sit-down with Oprah?
The world media is in hysterics over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s scandalous allegations and stunning revelations about life as a mixed-race couple in the royal family.
And the circumstances that led to the two giving up their roles in the British monarchy for a life in Hollywood.
Most damaging to the royals is of course Meghan’s claims of racism.
She revealed the family was concerned that the laaitie might turn out looking coloured.
So? Better brown than ginger like his dad, right?
Whatever, as long as the kid is healthy mos.
What is so unbelievable about racist attitudes still prevalent in the monarchy?
This is a family at the head of an institution that not too long ago was a colonial and imperial empire.
They’re so used to lording it over the rest of the world that, frankly, it would be news if they weren't xenophobes.
Not just the family either, but the UK press as well.
Try as she might, Meghan could not do anything right by the media.
Nothing she would say, do or wear would meet their standards and escape scrutiny.
Some royal researcher should do a comparative study of Meghan and Kate and how they are portrayed in newspaper headlines.
Worse than those racist Clicks hair adverts...
And calling her a gold-digger? Please. She's the only one of the lot who had a job!
Even when they moved to California, they couldn't escape the tabloids trashing them.
They wanted their privacy, they got it, so then why go public on TV?
Well, at some point they said enough is enough and decided to challenge the media narrative.
So both Harry and Meghan complained how they felt trapped by the traditions and protocols of royal life.
They were not free to live as they pleased or speak their minds.
Again, how is this an “attack”?
Anyone who's watched the Netflix series The Crown will tell you with authority, "that's how it is" in that stuffy household.
Beset by all these hardships, strictly forbidden to show emotion, weakness and cry out for help, is it any wonder Meghan felt suicidal and eventually decided to jump the castle walls?
You must be some kind of gatvol to give up the bouquet of privileges that comes with royal life.
The only really surprising development was Queen Elizabeth's response to the biggest “crisis” since Diana's death.
The Buckingham Palace statement said she was saddened to "learn" of the couple's challenges.
Yes. So all of it was news to her, apparently.
Maybe Harry and Meghan forgot to mention it?
