With the Drifting coming up this weekend, Bobby Nitro thought he would ask two local heroes about their attitudes to road safety.
Juan Stemmet, who repped hard for South Africa at the 2019 FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup at Tsukuba in Japan, and is a force to be reckoned with on any track, says: “When I think of safety, I think of sticking to the speed limit. If you want to go fast, go to the track, that’s where I take all my cars. In any case, the condition of public roads is such that makes it extra unsafe to speed. Oh, and be sure to wear your seatbelt and always ride on good tyres.”
Razor Customs Car Show’s Raziek Rajah says: “While the love for speed and adrenalin is an awesome journey, it can only flourish if it’s done responsibly.”
So there it is, if these guys, who love nothing more than loss of traction and a hard revving powerplant, are super aware of road safety, how much more so should we be, who don’t really have the skills?
Be aware and take care on our public roads.
