A Mitchells Plain woman is demanding better service from a building company after her Nutec house sprung leaks and started falling apart while they are dodging her calls.
Faieza Taylor says she contacted Imvusa Trading in Phillippi to put up a Nutec house in her mother-in-law’s yard in Tessa Crescent, Montrose Park, which they started to build on 5 March.
“They finished building it on 8 March, but when I checked the house after they were done, I saw that the toilet was leaking and that the place was built very badly.
“There were screws sticking out of the walls and the poles that they put inside were skew, I could not see how they could spend the R44 000 we needed to give for the materials.
“Even when they started, I could see that the roof was not put on properly and I told them about all the problems I saw which they said they would sort out.”
Faieza says on 22 March, somebody from Imvusa finally came to the house but by that time the problems got worse.
“The man told me that he couldn’t fix the basin because he only brought the stuff to fix the toilet. He then used the silicone I had at home to do a quick fix.”
The mother of two says whenever she calls Imvusa, she is told a manager named Mansoor is busy.
She’s now fixed some of the problems out of her own pocket and demands Imvusa fix the rest or reimburse her.
When the Daily Voice called Imvusa and asked to speak to Mansoor, we were also told that “he was busy on a call” and that there was no way of knowing when he would be done.
He did not reply to requests for comments.
