A Wetton woman is demanding her money back from a Durbanville man who allegedly sold her a faulty dishwasher, but says instead of getting her money back, all she got was death threats.
Amanda Henry, 55, says she saw the advert for a Defy dishwasher on Facebook on 10 September and contacted Timothy Hicks.
“I bought the dishwasher for R700 and we arranged for it to be delivered to my house at 11am on Saturday but I kept getting excuses and eventually it was brought to my place at 7.30pm,” she says.
“I just told my family to bring it in but when I looked at the dishwasher I saw it was not the same one that was advertised.
“The body was rusted and the wires were sticking out of it, while there was a pipe missing but he told me about that before the time.”
Amanda says she immediately called the delivery guys but they refused to come back.
“Before the dishwasher came, I sent R400 and when it was delivered, I gave them R300 but I want my money back and they must come and fetch this piece of junk.”
She says when she eventually got hold of Timothy, he turned violent: “He called me a b!tch, a lesbian and told me that I do not know who I am messing with and that I will be sorry if I don’t stop asking for my money back.
“I also posted a message on a scammers page on Facebook and I saw that a lot of people have had the same experience with him.”
When the Daily Voice tried to call Timothy, he did not answer his phone despite him chatting with Amanda on WhatsApp at the time.
He did not respond to messages.
