A Crossroads woman was allegedly drugged and raped by her ex-boyfriend and a video of the sick attack was shared on social media.
The man, with whom she has a child, allegedly assaulted the 24-year-old mom with his friend.
But Tuesday only Anam Tsholoba, 26, appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on a rape charge.
The incident happened late October, but the accused was only arrested last Thursday.
The victim’s brother, who cannot be named, says Tsholoba had been pleading with his ex to drop the charges.
“My sister was doing better before he called and then after that she went back to being traumatised.
“As the family, we are disappointed in him because we trusted him and never thought he would do such a despicable thing. He has completely destroyed the trust we had in him.”
He says his sister can’t remember what happened.
“They put something in her drink and then she was raped,” he claims.
“She still doesn’t remember anything from that day.”
The 20-year-old said a video of the attack was circulating in the Crossroads area.
“This is not a stranger but the father of her baby and he raped my sister with his friend and then recorded all of that; then after that sent the video to other people.
“I can’t understand why a man would do that to the mother of his child,” he says.
“If a person breaks up with you, move on. And if she refuses to have sex with you, go and service yourself.”
The young man says his family members can’t face being out on the streets because of the footage that went viral in their neighbourhood: “If it is difficult for me, it must definitely be for my sisters.”
Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said two suspects, aged 26, were arrested on a charge of rape.
