A woman from Heideveld says that she wants justice after she was beaten up by her neighbour three months ago.
Cecelia Ludick said in February her neighbour assaulted her resulting in her arm being broken and threw a glass of beer stukkend in her face which has left permanent scarring after she tried to stop a fight between the assailant and her aunty.
Cecelia explains: “My attacker’s girlfriend and I are living on the same property, which belongs to my aunt. The day of the incident, I was next door at my friend’s house.
"On my way home, I just saw him klap my aunt and started hitting my aunt. He almost wanted to choke her half dood.
"I started to keer af and bring my aunt in the yard. He grabbed me by my arm and started pulling on my arm and I told him to leave me because he was hurting me and he ended up breaking my arm.
"I tried locking the gate and when I lifted my head, he threw a full glass of beer in my face laat die glas binne in my gesig breek. My face was swollen.
"I ended up going to hospital for medical treatment and the Monday I opened up a police case at Manenberg SAPS."
Cecelia said that for two months her attacker was not arrested and she had to go back and forth to the police station asking why her attacker was not arrested.
She explains: “The detective kept saying they are going to arrest him but they never would. He was such a pest, saying that I should apologise to him and harassing me.
"Hy het my baie seer gemaak. I did not even want to leave my house because when I would go outside he and his girlfriend would laugh in my face.
"On 25 April, I had enough and went to the police station again to follow up when they were going to arrest him. They eventually came to get him but by the Saturday he was at home again and is op en af.”
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that an assault case was opened and the investigation continues.
He reports: “In response to your media enquiry kindly be advised that the mentioned case number is an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm case.
"We can confirm that a 34-year-old suspect appeared in the Athlone Magistrates Court on 29 April 2025 where the case was remanded until 3 June 2025.
"The investigation is still ongoing.”
Cecelia said she has no choice but to apply a protection order out of fear that her attacker might strike again.
