Concerned parents in Scottsdene are too afraid to send their children to school, following continued shootings in the area.
They say skollies are dressing up in school clothes as they target their enemies.
“On Monday a shooter was among children outside Bernadino Heights High and a 16-year-old boy was shot in his private parts,” said one witness.
Police could not confirm this incident.
In the latest shooting, a 25-year-old man was killed. He was apparently lured to his death by a teenage girl.
According to residents a girl had gone into the Disa flats and called Maxwell Puilman.
“That girl called him outside where these guys were waiting, and they shot him off his bike. He was shot nine times. He was rushed to hospital, but died of his injuries,” said a concerned mother.
“The girl is not known to anyone here, but I know she led him to his death. She might have been threatened, but we will never know.”
Worried parents say shootings have become “normal”.
“This is the new normal in our area. Our children started school this week, but we are too afraid to send them there because at any time, bullets start flying here in Kraaifontein as boewe try to take each other out,” a father said.
“Our children are caught in the middle, and we can do nothing.”
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed Puilman’s murder and said: “A murder case is being investigated at Kraaifontein Police Station. Due to the sensitivity of the investigation no further information can be made available at this time.”
