TWO DEAD IN WESBANK SHOOTINGS

POLICE are investigating two counts of murder in Wesbank after a 32-year-old woman was shot and killed before, moments later, a foreign national was killed inside his shop on Friday evening.

The woman, whose neighbours claim was well known in the community and a people’s person was gunned down in Framesby Street at around 6.30pm.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said that Mfuleni police are investigating a murder case.

Van Wyk said: “Mfuleni police registered a murder following a shooting incident on 4 July 2025 at about 6.30pm in front of a premises in Framesby Street, Wesbank, where a 32-year-old female was shot and fatally wounded.

“According to reports, SAPS members received a complaint at the mentioned address on their arrival they saw the body of a female lying on the pavement in front of the house. 

“The deceased was shot in the head and left arm and she was declared dead on the scene by the ambulance personnel. 

“Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. The motive is believed to be gang-related. Investigations continue, no arrest.”

When the Daily Voice arrived at the family home of the victim, her grieving mother declined to comment.

Just moments after the shooting of the woman, a 25-year-old male of foreign nationality was shot and killed in what police believe to be a case of extortion.

Van Wyk said that the circumstances surrounding the death of the foreign national are under investigation.

Van Wyk added: “On 4 July 2025 at about 7pm, SAPS members received a complaint at Rowallan Street, Wesbank. On their arrival they found the body of a male inside the spaza shop laying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his face.

“The motive is suspected to be extortion related. Investigations continues, no arrest as yet.”
