Police are investigating a case of murder and two counts of attempted murder after three people including a 78-year-old man was shot and one killed on Monday afternoon in N2 Gateway, Delft.
Shots were fired in broad daylight in Leeu Street which resulted in three men being gunned down and a 37-year-old man fatally wounded.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the shooting and said that Delft detectives are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.
Twigg reports: “Delft police responded to a complaint of a shooting incident on Monday afternoon, 9 June 2025 at about 4pm, in Leeu Street, N2 Gateway, and upon arrival on the scene they found three males 37, 48 and 78 who sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies.
The 37-year-old male was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were taken to a medical facility for medical treatment.
"The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. The suspect/s are yet to be arrested.”

Attempts to reach out to the Delft Community Police Forum for comment were not met by deadline.
This incident comes two weeks after a 19-year-old teen was shot and killed and his 56-year-old mother wounded inside their house in N2 Gateway during a robbery on 25 May at 8.50pm.
