Two alleged skollies from Parkwood were denied bail at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Wednedsday in the murder case of seven-year-old Ezra Daniels.
Little Ezra was killed last September when a bullet intended for a gangster hit him in the neck while he was playing in Abdullah Moosa Walk.
The alleged leader of the Junky Funkys gang, Tasliem “Thaliem” Bianchi, along with Ikeraam Bianchi, Marlon Neehuis, Kelly Daniels and Kimberley Solomons, were charged with murder.
Solomons and Daniels were granted R1000 bail last November, but the three men decided not to apply for bail.
In April, Ikeraam and Neehuis changed their minds and made bail applications, which have been stalled several times. The duo offered to pay R1500 bail each.
Wednesday, the two men were back in court where Magistrate Goolam Bawa informed them that the application was denied, as they had problems with their alternative addresses, had not proven extraordinary circumstances why they should be released and wouldn’t take the stand.
During the bail hearing in May, it was revealed that on the day Ezra died, the five accused were seen in a white VW Golf driven by Neehuis, which circled the road where Ezra and Neehuis’s five-year-old son were playing.
According to witnesses, Thaliem allegedly shot in the direction of the boys and the vehicle sped off.
Officers found the vehicle in Parkwood and Daniels was discovered in the back seat and arrested.
Thaliem and Ikeraam were in hiding and when nabbed, police found a cartridge inside the vehicle and primer residue on Thaliem’s hands.
The case has been postponed to 8 August, as the State is now preparing a high court indictment.
