Multiple gunshots went off on Tuesday in the community of Vrygrond where an adult woman was shot dead on her stoep.

Police say that they are investigating a case of murder after the woman was gunned down in Drury Road in Vrygrond.

It seems as the woman was shot in her yard as an image of her body covered with a pink blanket made the rounds on social media as mense look on.

When Daily Voice asked police if they can confirm if the woman was caught in a crossfire, cops said that the circumstances surrounding the shooting are yet to be established.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the shooting.
