SCENE: Mitchell's Moslem Butchery in Woodlands

Mitchells Moslem Butchery has spoken out for die eerste keer since an employee was arrested for attempted murder after pranking another staff member into drinking acid.
In a statement made by the butchery it said that as the case is being investigated and heard before court they will not be commenting further on the “specifics of the case nor taking any public position at this time.”
Mitchells Moslem Butchery adds: “We want to make it clear that we remain respectful, while being focused on maintaining a safe working environment for all our staff and customers.
“We trust that the legal process will determine the facts and outcome of the incident in due course. We are further conducting an internal investigation while fully cooperating with the South African Police Service.
“Our commitment remains to our staff, customers and the community. We want to assure you that despite this situation, our operations continue as normal, and we remain focused on providing the highest standards of quality and services that everyone has grown accustomed to.”
The victim was allegedly pranked into drinking liquid from a cooldrink bottle which led to him getting cramps and vomiting.
According to a Daily Voice source, the victim who was admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital’s ICU unit and put on life support is doing much better.
The source said: “He's trying to keep strong, but [one] can see he's still under a lot of pain. He can't eat any solids...
"He's still weak but he can walk and talk, but not for long then he's out of breath.”
The accused, Nuruddin Tembe, 53, appeared in the Mitchells Plain court on 15 May released on bail of R1 000, however the court ordered that he is to bly weg from Woodlands and the butchery despite management willing to take him back.
The Daily Voice reached out to the victim’s father after the court appearance for comment, however said that he was not willing to speak.
RECOVERING: Victim was taken off critical status after being admitted to the ICU.
