The sleek and speedy performances and showcases of the Atlantis Automotive Enthusiasts made for a sporty Sunday in Atlantis.
Due to the high levels of gender-based violence, the Enthusiasts decided to put their wheels to goodwill and donate all participation fees of their park-off towards the Survivors Haven Foundation.
Founder of the foundation, Janine Passenz, says as an organisation they are grateful for the Enthusiasts for reaching out in such an exciting manner.
"I am very impressed with the group, especially because they mostly consist of men.
"More men need to get involved in raising awareness of gender-based violence.
"We as Survivors Haven Foundation are grateful to Bryan and the group for the beautiful initiative.
"Other organisations can only follow their example.
"Because if you work as a unit, and send out one message, there is more impact on an issue and results are seen," says Passenz.
Enthusiasts paid R20 per category to participate except the Sound Off-category, which was R50.
A good amount of petrolkoppe participated in the different categories, which includes Best Bagges, Static, Best Engine Bay, Straight Street, Best Interior and Limbo.
Bryan Strauss, one of the Enthusiasts, says this is their third park-off and the first in support of a social issue.
“We decided on the Survivors Haven Foundation because the levels of gender-based violence is evident in Atlantis and surroundings,” says Strauss, while he adds that the excitement of everyone involved for a great cause was simply amazing.
“We welcome all car enthusiasts to become part of our group.
“Anyone that would like to be part of the Enthusiasts, who might have ideas for park-offs and conveys for the greater good, are welcome to approach us,” says Strauss.
