The body of a missing Delft dad has been found in thick bushes along Baden Powell Drive nearly three weeks after his disappearance.
Raymond October, 46, was reported missing after an accident near Sunrise Circle on 29 July.
He was found by relatives who embarked on a search over the weekend.
Daughter Raline, 24, says Raymond was on his way to Ottery when the tyre of his Uno burst and the car rolled.
“It happened on the Saturday, and the Sunday morning early they called us and we went to Victoria Hospital,” she says.
“His three friends were there but he was not and they didn’t know where he was so we went to the police to open a missing persons report.
“The service from the police was very bad and we got no feedback.”
On Saturday, the family decided to go and look for the former taxi boss themselves.
“The whole family went to the area where the accident happened and my ouma walked on the one side and screamed. I ran so fast to her my legs got lame and unfortunately it was him,” says a h artseer Raline.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says a DNA test needs to be conducted to determine the identity of the body.
But Raline says while the body was badly decomposed, she knows it is her father.
“He has a prosthetic foot because he was in an accident a couple of years ago. He has my brother’s name tattooed on his chest so I know it is him but we have to wait for the tests,” she says.
