Four men accused of killing six-month-old Zahnia Woodward of Ocean View in a drive-by shooting will receive judgment on Friday at the Cape High Court in their second application for bail.
Last year bail was denied at the Simon’s Town Magistrates’ Court for Christopher September, Larry Johnson, Taswell Kreel and Morne May who are facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
On Wednesday, the suspects launched a surprise bail application, with May telling the court his four-year-old child and sickly mother needed him.
The three other suspects’ lawyers read out their affidavits in court.
Mirriam Johnson, 59, and Simaney Kido, accused of aiding and abetting the suspects was also in court.
The group has been making appearances at the Cape High Court for pre-trial proceedings and their trial is expected to begin on 8 October.
Zahnia’s mother, Cindy Woodward, says she is disgusted at the men’s attempt at freedom.
“I am frustrated because they all want to come out and be with their children, but what about my child?”
