Members attached to the Flying Squad arrested four suspects in Parow for an alleged hijacking.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said members received information about a silver Ford Ranger LDV that was used in a hijacking of a white Toyota Corolla in Ravensmead on 9 May.
Van Wyk reports: “The members followed up the information and pulled over the LDV at the corners of Tygervalley and King Edward Streets in Parow.”
"The vehicle and occupants were searched which led to the discovery of a replica firearm that was used in the hijacking and car parts linked to the vehicle which was hijacked."
Cops found the fake gun under the driver's seat and hauled a vrag car parts linked to the hijacked out of the bakkie, including a door and a car seat.
Van Wyk said that the parts formed part of the case to charge the suspects with possession of suspected stolen property.
He adds: "The suspects aged between 18 and 43 were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property."
In addition, the bakkies used to commit the offence was seized as an exhibit.
Van Wyk confirms: “The suspects are due to appear in the Parow Magistrates Court once charged."
