An alleged gang boss and his driver were gunned down in a shooting in Hanover Park on Monday.
According to residents, two gunmen ran up to a member of the Laughing Boys gang who was in a car outside his home in Buall Walk and opened fire shortly after 8am.
Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk says one man was shot in the leg and the other one in the arm.
“Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
“No arrest was made, the incident is gang-related. At this stage case are under investigation and victims are in their twenties.”
A resident, who asked not to be named, says they are living in fear as Laughing Boys have turned their guns on each other in recent weeks.
“They supposedly made peace but now we don’t know because there are talks about hits on all the leaders.
“U-Boy is a big merchant for the Laughing Boys and he was shot by his own people in front of his house.
“We also know that some of the Ghetto Kidz have now become Laughing Boys and will soon start killing to prove themselves.”
Meanwhile, Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson Ebrahiem Abrahams says they are concerned about innocent people being caught in gang fights.
“They are just shooting and we are very worried about innocent people being hurt,” he says.
“We are concerned about the ongoing infighting among the Laughing Boys and all the shootings. Niemand lag met hulle nie.”
