A MILNERTON dad said that police officials assaulted them maar the tables turned after an assault case was opened against his son for assaulting them.

The complainant told the Daily Voice that the incident occurred on 1 May when he heard his dogs barking late hours of the morning.

He said that there was a hele commotion after police officials allegedly assaulted his neighbours and attempted to put the husband in the van.

The complainant questioned the assault and was told that it was “none of my business.”

He adds: “My neighbour’s wife was recording the police officers assaulting her husband and there were five witnesses seeing what they were doing. The police then called for back-up then another four police vans rocked up.

“The police officer then demanded the phone from [my neighbour’s wife] but she threw the phone into my yard.

"My son then picked it up and gave it to [my neighbour’s wife] son through the bathroom windows. The police officer then accused me for throwing a stone at him. Then the officer accused [her] for assaulting him.”

The complainant further claims that he was pepper-sprayed, threatened to shoot their dogs assaulted his wife and entered his son’s room where they allegedly choked the son's wife.

The complainant said: “They also assaulted their 14-year-boy by hitting him in the face. They then arrested my son for assaulting a police officer and obstruction of justice because they wanted the phone.

“They then took his phone as they thought that was the phone with the footage and broke it. As the police officer left the house they then threatened out lives by saying 'we gonna come back then you gonna see what we gonna do'.”

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the complainant’s son appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on 2 May and was granted bail of R500.

Van Wyk adds: “The mentioned case is an assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm on 1 May 1am at the corner of Iona and Gannet Street, Milnerton.”

The complainant said that they registered a case at Milnerton police station, however they had no feedback and claimed that a medical doctor who examined them did not give the J88 form because they are bang to testify if they get called to the witness stand.
