Nine men from Macassar and Manenberg are behind bars after Metro Police raided their homes and found drugs.
Metro Police spokesperson, Sergeant Ruth Solomons, says the Gang and Drugs Task Team had two successful busts in Macassar on Friday morning following tip-offs from the public.
“In the first incident, officers searched a house after receiving information about illegal drug activity at the premises,” she explains.
“They found 14 bankies, two bread bags and three parcels filled with dagga. A 27-year-old man was arrested and detained at the local police station.
“Next, officers moved on to the second address where they found 26 bankies of tik with an estimated street value of R6000. A 38-year-old suspect was arrested.”
On Friday night, the team moved to Manenberg where they raided three known drug houses in Stormsriver Road, Gamka Street and Gamtoos Road.

Solomons says during the searches officers found 28 packets of tik, 82 packets of dagga and 47 dagga stoppe, several dozen whole and half mandrax tablets and a small amount of cash.
“Seven suspects, aged between 19 and 34 who were found at the respective premises, were arrested for possession of drugs and detained at Manenberg Police Station.
“The department thanks the members of the public who provided the tip-offs that led to these successes and calls on others to do the same as the fight against crime requires everyone to play a role,” she says.
