DIE Kaap se eie Kung Fu world champion, Shifu Muhammad Junaid Chafeker aka MJ Li is being inducted into the prestigious World Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Honors, alongside Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan hulle.
After 30 years in the martial arts, winning more than 30 gold medals for South Africa and representing South Africa all over the world, Chafeker becomes the first South African Muslim and African to be honoured with greats like Jet Li Chuck Norris, Don "The Dragon" Wilson and Cynthia Rothrock.
Chafeker will travel to Atlantic City in the SA on 29 January 2026 to be officially inducted and to receive this prestigious award.
He told Daily Voice that this is a big win for Cape Town and South Africa and wants his achievement to serve as motivation to the youth.
MJ Li said: “I am feeling different emotions, I am humbled, nervous and excited. I suppose it is a 30-year journey in martial arts for having become undefeated world champion.
“To be in the company of huge names such as Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan and many more who were world champions before me and as a little kid in the late 80s watching their movies and now making history is huge for me.
“If this can serve as motivation for our youth to dare to dream and not be defined by their circumstances. If we can produce more Wall of Fame inductees and champions from our soil then it is a fantastic legacy. I am still young and will continue to represent my country and fly the South African flag high.”
