The festive season is all about giving and pensioner Jasmina Williams was moved by the Christmas spirit to treat over 120 seniors from all over to a senior lunch.
Jasmina, 71, affectionately known as Aunty Mina, has been doing her senior Christmas lunches for five years with her pension and with the help of her family in Portland, Mitchells Plain.
With a heart for her community, she also has a soup kitchen called Mina's Meals Soup Kitchen and does feeding every Thursday from her house, feeding more than 200 people who are in need.
Aunty Mina said: “Every year I give the seniors a Christmas party because a lot of people don’t have food.
"I do it every year out of my own pocket because I recently got my non-profit organisation number, so I do not ask for donations or anything from anyone.
"I just want people to come to get something to eat and enjoy themselves. During the year, I cater for everyone including children, but only at Christmas time I cater for the seniors.
"We had seniors from all over Mitchells Plain as well as Grassy Park and different areas and it was so nice to see everyone have a good time. I love feeding people and giving back, I don’t mind taking from my pension.
"It is an honour for me to do what I am doing, my heart feels happy and I feel good. I love my people and they know what kind of person I am."
The seniors were treated to a lekker end-of-year lunch at Portland community hall in Mitchells Plain on 18 December with the venue decked out in Christmas colours.
