Seven alleged JFK skollies in dock over plot to kill witness at Wynberg court

SEVEN alleged Junky Funky Kidz (JFK) skollies who apparently planned a hit on a witness in a case at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court made their first court appearance on Wednesday.

The ouens, aged between 18 and 64 and may not be named or identified as per a court order, are facing Schedule 6 offences, including charges of being in the possession of three illegal firearms and 140 rounds of ammunition.

The State alleges that on 15 December at about 1.30pm cops received information about armed suspects travelling to the court building in a Toyota Quantum. The suspects were believed to be on their way to shoot a person testifying in court.

Cops spotted the vehicle and requested that they pull over in front of the court and get out of the vehicle.

The court heard that pistols and ammunition were found on three of the accused, ammunition on one of the accused while another suspect was the driver of the Quantum.

The State further alleges that the accused belong to the JFK gang and said they may add a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. They added that they will be opposing their release on bail.

Two of the ouens are being represented by a private lawyer, while the rest choose to take legal aid.

The suspects, who come from Vrygrond, Seawind, Retreat, Westlake, Mfuleni and Tafelsig, remain in custody until their bail application.

One of the alleged skollies had a first appearance for a separate case of a Schedule 5 offence facing charges of attempted murder for an incident on 11 December.

The State alleges that the victim is known to the suspect and added that they will be opposing his release on bail.

Meanwhile, one of the leaders of the JFKs, Jason “Fabulous” Arendse, is in custody facing Schedule 6 charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila told the Daily Voice that: “This matter involves three counts of murder, attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of ammunition. The accused is one of the leaders of the Junky Funky Kidz.”
