AFTER 40 days of checking oorals in Phumlani Village, the parents of missing meisie Anovuyo Oncke want to widen the search.

The Grade 1 Perivale Primary School learner was last seen on 6 September wearing black pants and a pink pajama top.

Heartbroken ouers Luvuyo Mantile and Samantha Oncke were joined by community worker Beryl Williams, fondly known as Aunty Girly, and local kids in a klopjag in Riemvasmaak informal settlement.

But after mense opened their homes for the third big sweep of the area, Aunty Girly said: “The search went well, but that girl is not in Phumlani, definitely not.

“People opened their doors for the third time for us to search, but she is not there, definitely not there. That’s the sad part.

“Part of why I organised the klopjag is to give awareness and because SAPS is doing nothing. I asked Anovuyo’s parents if they have come to the area and they said yes but just for five minutes then they leave again.”

The walk started in the village then proceeded to New Strandfontein Road.

Williams added: “We stood on the main road for motorists to see us with posters of Anovuyo in case someone saw her somewhere. The people were hooting and saluting us.”

The couple also have a younger child who was taken by social workers on 12 September to allow them to focus on the search for Anovuyo.

Samantha previously said: “Aunty Beryl heard from the social worker, who said our baby was taken to the hospital for a checkup. He is fine. They are still looking for a safe parent to place him.

“He needs placement close by because I still breastfeed. They have our details, but we have not heard anything from the social worker.”

Williams confirmed this to the Daily Voice, saying: “He is doing fine.”

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said: "The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the mentioned person are still getting the necessary attention.

"The investigating officer will at all times pursue the latest information as received in a bid to ensure a breakthrough. The person however at this stage is still reported as missing. Wynberg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit are going the extra mile."

Anovuyo Oncke is missing since Saturday, September 6.
