Goodwood resident unharmed after three shots were fired in attack

A GOODWOOD vrou escaped an armed robbery with her life, as gunshots and her terrified screams shook the area on Friday morning. 

The incident took place in Surrey Road, Goodwood at 8.25am when a woman was robbed of her belongings by armed men.

A 31-second clip of the incident has surfaced online with the date stamped 26 September 2025 where the woman’s terrified screams can be heard. Three gunshots are fired while the woman can be heard screaming continuously.

In the video, an Opel Corsa is seen taking off, while a man is seen running and getting into a black Nissan Juke, before it speeds off.

Speculation on social media was that the woman was robbed inside her house in Goodwood but Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that it was not a house robbery.

He reported: “Goodwood police registered an armed robbery case for investigation following an incident in which an adult female was robbed of her personal belongings in Surrey Road, Goodwood.

"The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.”

According to Chairperson of the Goodwood Community Police Forum, Abdallah Sydney the woman is a resident in the area and her cellphone was taken.

He confirms that the vehicle involved in the robbery was recovered abandoned in Elsies River.

Sydney explained “We can confirm that there was an armed robbery during which shots were fired; fortunately, there were no fatalities. Only a cellphone was taken as the suspects were disturbed by residents. 

"The matter remains under police investigation. We would like to commend SAPS for their swift response to the scene.”
