A DELFT family is hoping for the safe return of their 18 year old son who went missing at Bakoven rocks during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sulayman Isaacs said his son, Nafees Isaacs from N2 Gateway in Delft went with a group of his friends and sister to the beach. He reportedly went to pee when he slipped and fell down the rocks and has since not been found.

The heartbroken dad told the Daily Voice: “Nafees and his friends went to play games in N2 Gateway. They probably got tired of the games and decided to take a drive to Camps Bay.

"My daughter was with and according to her Nafees got up to go pee, when he slipped down the rocks and fell.

"He was calling for help but they could not help him because it was dark and they could not see anything.

"It was during the early hours of Saturday morning. They were looking for him and until now they are still looking for him with drones and helicopters. This whole ordeal has left the family traumatised.”

The National Sea Rescue Institute has released a statement saying that despite extensive air, sea and shoreline search efforts there remains no signs of the missing teenager however search efforts are ongoing.

Sunday's update read: “During the early hours of Saturday morning, 27 September, WC Government Health EMS Metro Control, NSRI EOC (Emergency Operations Centre), the SA Police Services, Police WPDS (Water Policing and Diving Services), CoCT (City of Cape Town) Law Enforcement and NSRI Bakoven duty controllers, were alerted to a teenager reported to be missing at Bakoven rocks.

'[He] is suspected to may be missing in the water, where a group of young adults had been on the rocks, at Bakoven, where an 18-year-old male, from Delft, a member of the group, had gone missing.

"Shoreline patrols and investigations along rocks and in the area around Bakoven revealed no signs of the teenager where it became increasingly evident that he may have slipped off rocks into the water during the incoming high tide.

"The SA Police Services, Police divers (WPDS), CoCT Law Enforcement, EMS Metro Rescue, and an EMS Metro Rescue drone unit, and NSRI Bakoven rescue swimmers, attended at the scene conducting extensive search efforts, supported by the NSRI Bakoven rescue craft Gemini Legend that was launched to assist in the search."
