Marsha Dean|Published

Police are investigating another murder case after a 29-year-old man was shot and killed on Tuesday morning in what is believed to be a gang-related shooting in Montrose Park, Mitchells Plain.

The incident took place in Samantha Street around 9am close to the mosque and was recorded on CCTV.

The footage shows the victim walking down the road. A man in a hoodie approached him and shoots him directly in the head. Another man appears and opens fire on the victim, shooting him continuously in the head before the pair run off.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed the incident and said that Lenteguer police are investigating a case of murder.

Swartbooi reported: “Lentegeur detectives are busy combing a crime scene in Samantha Street in a bid to apprehend those responsible for the death of a 29-year-old man earlier Tuesday 23 September 2025.

Chairperson for the Lentegeur Community Policing Forum Michael Jacobs told Daily Voice that there were numerous shootings incidents that were reported in the same block where the murder took place and is calling on the community to come forward with any information to help rid the streets of illegal guns.

Jacobs explained: “The incident seems to be gang-related when a person was gunned down in broad daylight by two unknown suspects."
