A WESTRIDGE family is grieving after they were woken up to the news of their loved one who was found dead, half naked and riddled with gunshot wounds in a field next to a school.

The body of Avron Morris was found on Wednesday morning by a passer-by close to the fence of Parkhurst Primary.

His sister Lauren Louw told the Daily Voice that the last time she saw her only broer was at her home after he travelled from work on Tuesday evening to ask for bread and transport money.

The suspects took his bike and the money Louw gave her brother.

She explained: “We are taking it very hard, because he was my only brother of three and I have a younger sister while Avron was the eldest.

“Last night, he came to my house from work around 8.50pm and he asked me for bread, food and money for travelling fee for today for work.

“I was at home when I got the news this morning [24 September] at about 8.40am.

“I went to the scene and I was the first one there to check if it was him and it was him. I let my mommy know and the ward councillor went to fetch my mother and dropped her at the scene.”

And Lauren suspects he was left half naked because the killers wanted to see if if the father of one had any gang tjappies on his lower body.

She added: “He wasn’t even a gangster, he was an innocent guy and he was just made permanent at the job he was working at. And he has only one child, a daughter.”

“He didn’t have clothes on, they undressed him also to maybe see if he belongs to any gang and there wasn’t anything on him.”

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg reported: “Mitchells Plain police registered a murder case for investigation after the body of a 37-year-old male was found on an open field next to a primary school in Westridge, Mitchells Plain on Wednesday morning, 24 September 2025, at about 08:20.”

He added that the motive for the attack is yet to be determined and the suspects are yet to be arrested.
