A YOUNG mom’s life was cut short after she and her berk came under attack from two unknown gunmen in Delft South yesterday morning.
Rushne Losper, 19, who was a young mother to a baby girl, died after the shooting incident on 16 September at 06:55 on Delft Main Road, Delft South.
She and her boyfriend were leaving home, when they were approached by two men and gunned down in the street.
Rushne was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died, but her partner lived to tell the tale.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said: “Delft police registered a murder case following a shooting incident on 16 September at 06:55 at a premises in Delft Main Road, Delft South where a 19-year-old female was shot and fatally wounded.
“According to the deceased’s boyfriend, he and his girlfriend came walking out of the yard when two unknown males come walking towards them from the opposite side of the road. Both had firearms and then started shooting at them.
“The deceased was shot and transported privately to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.”
Tributes have been pouring in on Facebook for Losper saying: “I can't believe it. I still saw you on Sunday in the mall and today you no more. Why is life so cruel.
“A young mother passed away, leaving behind a baby girl. It's a heartbreaking situation, and the baby will grow up without her mom's love, and care.
"The family and loved ones are probably going through a lot right now. And even if we didn't really talk it's still sad to see young girls having their lives taken away so quickly.”
Van Wyk added that the motive for the shooting forms part of the investigation, while the suspects are yet to be arrested.
