24-year-old arrested after getting shot in gang fight

COPS have arrested a suspect in last week’s Athlone Court murder, after he was injured in a shooting incident.

According to police, the skollie was allegedly shot and wounded by a rival gang member. 

He was taken for treatment at nearby medical facility and vasgevat once identified. 

The 24-year-old is currently under police guard in hospital. 

Colonel Andrè Traut reported: “The Anti-Gang Unit have arrested a 24-year-old suspect in connection with the murder and attempted murders that occurred last week at the Athlone Court and its vicinity.

“The suspect is currently under police guard in hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment after allegedly being shot and wounded by a rival gang member.

“Once formally charged, he is expected to appear in the very same court where the incident took place.”

Meanwhile, Manenberg police have arrested a 56-year-old man after shooting two klipgoeiers in the legs in Renoster Street in what seems to be an act of self defense.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that Manenberg police registered two counts of attempted murder following the shooting incident on Tuesday in which the two males aged 18 and 19 were shot and wounded.

Deputy chairperson for the Manenberg Community Policing Forum, Vanessa Adriaanse added: “I can confirm that the guy who shot the boys is in custody. 

"It is his legal weapon which belongs to him. "It all happened because these boys are just not stopping. "To him it was sending warning shots but it boiled down to where these two boys were shot in the legs.”
