Another body found at Sea Point

Second incident in the area in two weeks

SEA Point police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified man who was found early Sunday morning around 7am at the shore.

Reports were coming in early Sunday morning as medical personnel attended to the discovery of a man’s body close to the Sea Point Pavilion.

It is unclear about what the circumstances are that led to the death of the man, however police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said that Sea Point Police registered an inquest for further investigation.

Swartbooi reports: “Sea Point Police responded to a complaint on Sunday 31 August 2025. Upon their arrival at the crime scene close to the pavilion, they found the body of an unidentified man. 

"The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation. Sea Point Police registered an inquest for further investigation.”

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident to please call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously.

Meanwhile, this is the second body found at Sea Point Promenade after police attended to a crime scene at the early hours of last week Sunday where they found the body of a deceased man who is in his 40s.

The body was discovered around 7am near Beach and Norfolk Road at the grass area.

The man was found with a fatal gunshot wound. However it is alleged to be an apparent suicide by shooting.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the incident is under investigation.

He reported: “Sea Point police registered an inquest for investigation following an incident this morning Sunday, at about 7am at the Promenade grass area near Beach and Norfolk road, Sea Point. 

“The body of a male in his 40s was found with a fatal gunshot wound.”
