MITCHELLS Plain mense are gatvol after an "innocent" man was gunned down on Tuesday night.
A 25-year-old was shot killed and another wounded in the shooting in Jukskei Street, Beacon Valley around 7.45pm.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said Mitchells Plain police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.
Swartbooi confirmed: "Mitchells Plain detectives are hard at work pursuing leads in a bid apprehend those responsible for the death of a man and the attempt to kill another in Jukskei Street in Beacon Valley on Tuesday 26 August 2025
At about 19:45 unknown assailants arrived in separate vehicles and fired numerous gunshots at the occupants at the mentioned address. A 25-year-old man did not survive this onslaught on his life whilst another man who sustained gunshot wounds was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The unknown assailants fled the scene and they are yet to be arrested. The motive for this attack is believed to be gang related.”
According to Linda Jones from the Mitchells Plain Community Police Forum, the victim is believed to be innocent.
She told the Daily Voice: “It has been confirmed that the 25 year old deceased is not a gangster and does not belong to any gang. It is not confirmed about the other victim who has been wounded."
"We are not sure anymore what to say or what to expect because our community is up in arms. It is very sad that we are losing our young men daily on our streets unnecessarily."
