AN accused who was rearrested facing charges of murder following the death of a traffic cop five years ago has had his bail bid postponed yet again.

Craig “Krake” de Lilly returned to the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Thursday expecting to apply for his bail application, but proceedings were postponed yet again

The 41-year-old stands accused of murdering traffic officer Walton van Rooyen in March 2020, and also faces charges of illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and 14 cartridges.

De Lilly, his gaatjie and two other men were arrested shortly after the shooting in Acre Road, Kensington, but the case was provisionally withdrawn just a month later.

However, he was rearrested in July 2025 after new evidence emerged.

The court heard that the bail application had to be postponed yet again due to other cases and that his matter might take more than one day.

His lawyer previously told the court that he has prepared an "interesting" bail application with visuals and testimonies from De Lilly, another person who was in the taxi on the day and the owner of the taxi.

De Lilly’s family and friends were seen emotional and upset as they left the courtroom as they were hopeful that the application would start as this is the third postponement.

The court heard that de Lilly was also not happy, however the bail application was marked final and postponed to 11 September.
