A THIRD deadly shooting in recent months has stunned Parow after a man was shot and killed inside his car near the entrance of Tygerberg Hospital on Friday morning.
Parow detectives were combing the crime scene in Francie van Zyl drive for clues after finding an adult male with gunshot wounds inside his silver VW Polo in what police believe to be a gang-related shooting.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said that Parow police are investigating a case of murder.
He said: “Parow police rushed to a complaint [Friday] morning at about 7.50am. Upon their arrival at the crime scene they found the body of an adult male inside a motor vehicle who sustained gunshots.
"The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspects fled the scene in an undisclosed direction and they are yet to be arrested. The motive for this attack is believed to be gang-related."
Friday’s murder is the second shooting involving a silver VW Polo in Parow in less than a month after five people were ambushed in Voortrekker Road last month leaving two men killed, two injured and a fifth passenger escaped unharmed.
The attack also comes just weeks after the assassination of Andre Naude, a key figure in Cape Town who was gunned down in Voortrekker Road in Parow.
Bronwin Daniels from the Parow Community Policing Forum added, “The Parow CPF is deeply concerned about this act of violence. We do not condone any form of violence in our community, and we stand firmly in support of efforts to ensure safety, justice, and peace for all residents. Incidents like this are a stark reminder of the challenges we face and the urgent need for continued collaboration between community members, local organisations, and law enforcement partners.”
