A series of Mathematics workshops hosted by a charitable community organisation has kicked off to a lekker start as 700 matriculants attended the first session in Mitchells Plain on Saturday.
AWQAF SA intervention targets learners in the Cape Flats and townships who cannot afford to travel to the usual workshops in the south suburbs to host and prepare learners for their exams covering topics like algebra and geometry for Grade 10, 11 and 12.
The first session was held at Spine Road High School, Mitchells Plain on Saturday focusing on algebra.
AWQAF’s Hasanain Abdullah told the Daily Voice that the venue catered for 500 learners however 700 learners attended.
Abduallah says: “These workshops are for the learners in the Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha area and we are set up for the workshop that we are having on [Sunday].
“We are continuing to work in Mitchells Plain and our next workshop will be for Grade 11 at West End Primary with our partner Portlands school, we want to fill the hall.
“There are learners in Mitchells Plain that are living under challenging circumstances, but they have lots of academic potential and we want to uncover that diamond in the rough.”
The sessions are free and learners are encouraged to register online to confirm attendance.
And if you can't make it in person, you can still get the help you need by attending the session online. You will receive a streaming link upon registering.
