MAN SHOT DEAD IN PARK

Gang violence in Mitchells Plain is continuing to soar amid a gang war after another person was shot and fatally wounded yesterday morning at a park in Eastridge.

Gunfire was reported around 7am in Buffalo Street where the body of a 37-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his head.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that Mitchells Plain detectives are investigating a case of murder and said that the motive for this attack is believed to be gang related.

Twigg reported: “The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Thursday morning, 14 August 2025, at about 7.10am, in Buffalo Street, Eastridge, Mitchells Plain where a 37-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded are under investigation.

"Mitchells Plain police responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his head. 

"The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related. The suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.

"Mitchells Plain detectives are investigating a murder case.”

This comes after four men between the ages of 14 and 33 years were hunted down in a high speed chase on Tuesday also in Eastridge.

The four men were travelling in a Toyota Tazz vehicle when they were targeted by unknown gunmen in a VW Polo, in an attempt to escape the onslaught the four victims were chased by the suspects who continued to shoot at them as they sped through the streets. 

The shooting is believed to be linked to a court case heard in court.
