A NIGHT out in town ended in horror for two manne after they accepted a lift, only to be ambushed and shot in a remote parking lot at the Wolfgat Nature Reserve near Tafelsig.
One man, 30, was killed with a gunshot to the head, while his friend, also 30, miraculously survived after being shot in the neck.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning, just after 04:00am.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie reports: “Mitchell’s Plain police opened a murder and an attempted murder case for investigation following the discovery of a body of a 30-year-old man who succumbed to gunshot wounds to the head and another 30-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to his neck.”
According to reports a range officer made the chilling discovery.
Pojie adds: “On Saturday, 12 July 2025 at about 4am, members were patrolling in Baden Powell when they were alerted by a range officer that he found the deceased in the parking lot at Wolfgat Nature Reserve.”
When police arrived on the scene, they also found the injured survivor, who managed to detail the shocking events.
Pojie says: “The members went to the scene where they found the deceased as well as the injured survivor who made a report that he and the deceased got a lift home from a club in town.
“They were dropped off at the parking lot where the occupants of the vehicle met with occupants in another vehicle. Both were shot and left behind as the two vehicles sped off.”
