From our TV screens to our radio, media personality and journalist Tanya Nefdt gives us a behind-the-scenes view of transitioning to radio and juggling everything that comes with the job.

Born and bred in Mitchells Plain, the ageless Tanya recently it has been announced that she will now join the Heart FM breakfast team with Aden Thomas from 6am to 9am weekdays.

She shared that her love for journalism started in school and said that she has always been a natural storyteller during her skooldae

She says: "Mondeling (oral) was my favourite time, when I had to get up in front of the class and tell a story. I’ve also participated in school concerts, always on stage trying to make everyone smile and happy.

"But the older I got I realised all this quirkiness from my young days was actually preparing me for becoming a real storyteller.

"My first ever job in broadcasting was as a weather anchor and I loved it. That’s where the bug bit for television."

After nearly 20 years on eTV and eNCA, the bubbly media personality started her own company called Feel SA, a multimedia online channel focused on positive news.

She adds: “What fuels my passion is sharing South Africans stories, specifically with a focus of positive news because I think our country needs that too.

"I’ve always loved Heart FM and have become familiar with many of the on-air talent over the years but on a personal note, I’ve always wanted to get into radio.

"I often find myself talking back to the radio in my car and thinking, what if I was actually in the studio talking back, wouldn’t that be great.”

"I’ve been a guest on radio over the years and enjoyed the interaction and the opportunity to chat.  This is my first ever show I’ll be hosting on."
