Three armed men robbed a store in Pelikan Park on Monday night, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash while the shop owner and his staff were left unharmed.
A video captured by the store’s CCTV cameras show a Toyota Etios pulling up to the Pelikan Park Mini Store in Barbet Road at about 7.30pm, before three armed men – wearing hoodies and face masks – enter the store and close the garage door at the entrance behind them.
The video also shows two other men seated in the car.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says Grassy Park SAPS is investigating.
“The suspects fled the scene in a Toyota Etios with an undisclosed amount of cash,” he says.
The registration number of the car is unknown and could not be seen on the video, he says.
The foreign national shop owner, identifying himself only as Mohamed, told the Daily Voice the robbery took place in a matter of minutes.
“They came in, closed the door and before I could say anything there was a gun in my face,” Mohamed says.
“The one who closed the door was the one pointing the gun at me and the other two walked around the shop with their guns.
“They told us all to shut up and told us to stand by the door while they took the money.
“It was quick and the only thing they took was money from behind the counter before they left again.”
